Richard B. Cheney, prominent public servant and businessman, is the vice president. Cheney is a familiar figure on Washington's political scene. George W. Bush who is set to become the next chief of state in the U.S. will be Cheney's fourth. Bush selected Cheney to be his vice-presidential running mate in July 2000, citing Cheney's insight judgment and experience. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president. He also served as an elected member of Congress and was secretary of defence. Republicans and Democrats alike respect his honesty. Cheney claims he's a discreet but honest advisor to Bush during his presidency. Cheney stated that, when he decided to accept the Republican nomination for vice president Cheney was looking forward to working with a president who will work across the political aisle to reach his objectives and cooperate with opposition members in confidence. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30th 1941) was the son Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been engaged with Richard Herbert Cheney for over thirty years. As a 13-year-old, Richard Bruce accompanied his parents in Casper (in the US state of Wyoming) where his father served as Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's land conservation districts.
