Her birth date is March 29, 1985, in Roswell in New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson, the Mexican daughter of Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson, was birthed in Mexico. She is of Mexican-American heritage and is an American through nationality. Since her early years the desire for her to be involved in sports was evident. Gerina first started golfing at 15 years of age. Gerina was a graduate of Goddard High School. At the age of 16, she was a winner in New Mexico's state golf tournament. Also, she was a volleyball player and competed at the state level. She went to an institution called the University of Texas in 2003. In the final years of her career, she won each tournament in which she competed. In her undergraduate professional career, she took home her the Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year award and the UTEP Female Athlete of the Year.
